(See buttons to left for charts) WW1 Basic Version Victory Conditions The game is 12 turns long, with a truncated 13th turn allowing for a Central Powers counterattack to re-take the Ruhr or Berlin. Victory is achieved by forcing the surrender of major enemy nations. The major nations are Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, England, France, Italy, Russian, and the United States. The first six surrender through the loss of either of the two underlined resource point locations. Loss is considered to happen after enemy occupation followed by a friendly turn in which the owning nation fails to recapture the resource point area. Russia is different in that four underlined areas must be captured rather than just one. The USA may not be conquered. Instant Victory The Entente wins automatically if Germany surrenders before turn 12 as described above. The Central Powers win automatically if 2 Entente major nations and no Central Powers major nations have surrendered prior to turn 12. Full Game Victory Use this procedure if there is not an instant victory by turn 12. Finish turn 12, and if it would make a difference the Central Powers part of turn 13. Add up the number of Entente major nations which have surrendered and subtract the number of Central Powers nations which have surrendered. This is the VP total, use this number on the chart below: Germany has not surrendered, VP = 2: German Decisive Victory Germany has not surrendered, VP = 1: German Tactical Victory Germany has not surrendered, VP = 0: German Tactical Defeat Germany has not surrendered, VP = (-) #: German Decisive Defeat Germany surrenders, VP = 2: German Pyrhic Victory Germany surrenders, VP = 1: Entente Pyrhic Victory Germany surrenders, VP = 0: Entente Tactical Victory Germany surrenders, VP = (-) #: Entente Decisive Victory Pre-game Deployment: The Central Powers are Germany and Austria-Hungary, they start the game at war with the Entente consisting of Russia, France, England, Belgium and Serbia.
